In the midst of my crazy pattern testing/sinus infection week, I had the absolute pleasure of sewing up a new dress pattern from Little Lizard King – the Kailua Town Dress. It is such a sweet pattern loaded with unique options! Maci wore this to preschool (on hat day!) and received tons of compliments! And Maci absolutely loved the fullness of the skirt! She was twirling all day long!
Here are the details for Kailua Town:
Sizes 12 months – Girls 14
Elbow sleeve or long sleeve with a wide sleeve band
Lined Knit curved front bodice
Hi-Lo Woven Skirt
Knee Length Double Ruffle Bubble Skirt or Plain Skirt
For Maci, I sewed up the Elbow sleeve dress with plain skirt. Be sure to join the LLK Facebook group to see other tester versions with the other options!
I love how this pattern combines the comfort of a knit bodice with the woven skirt. I have a huge stash of wovens that need to be used, but I tend to lean towards knit patterns for the comfort! So this is a win/win in my book! I’ve been hoarding that pink Riley Blake Daisy Cottage woven forever – like, 3 years probably! The grey/white striped knit is also from Riley Blake.
LLK patterns have full color photo tutorials and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. They are great for beginners and include tips for sewing with knit fabrics at the beginning of the tutorial. Another feature that I LOVE is the printing with layers option! In Adobe Reader, you can select only the size(s) you need to print, and turn off all of the other size layers. This means that only the lines for your size get printed, saving ink, and making it easier to cut! No more getting confused about which line to cut (especially when printing in black & white). I can already tell that this is a pattern that will be used over and over again!
It started snowing while we were on the porch grabbing pics, so here is Maci trying to catch the snowflakes! Too bad you can’t see them in the photo! 🙂 The day Maci wore this dress to Pre-K it was Hat Day. So of course, I made a matching beanie! The pattern I used for the beanie is the Brindille & Twig Band Beanie. It comes in sizes Preemie-6T. (Maci is wearing the 6T) I’m not usually big on hats, but I love the way this one turned out and it looked so cute with her outfit! It may have converted me into a hat person!
Make sure to grab the Kailua Town Dress pattern during the release sale! It’s on sale for $6.50 (reg $8)!
