Hey friends! Today’s post is a little different than my usual pattern testing reviews, but I’m super excited about it! I had the opportunity to test fabric strike-offs for Peek-a-boo Fabric Shop. This is Amy’s 15th round of custom fabric and it is so darn cute! I actually remember the very first round and I’m still totally hoarding some of those princesses & super heroes 🙂 I love Amy’s designs because she always has really fun, kid-friendly prints & panels. She also does adult panels and prints, and they are always on-trend and perfect for the upcoming season! I was ecstatic that I was chosen to test this darling Alphabet Panel and the coordinating Chalk Doodles print, especially since Maci will be starting Kindergarten this fall!
You might not notice at first glance, but there is a hidden message in the Alphabet Panel, can you spot it!? I honestly just adore the chalk doodles print. It really adds the perfect amount of girly whimsy to this top! Amy’s custom fabric is printed on 200-220 gsm 95/5 cotton/lycra and it is amazingly soft! It’s a great weight and was just peachy to work with. It is also CPSC compliant for those of you who sew-to-sell. I also grabbed some of this solid lilac cotton/lycra from Amy’s shop to coordinate with the custom fabric, and it also is a very nice weight. It’s not too heavy, but it has enough weight that it is easy to work with! Maci put this shirt on as soon as I was finished trimming threads and pressing, and she hasn’t taken it off. She loves it and was so excited that I made a special shirt for her since she will be starting kindergarten!
I used the Me Hearties Peplum Top pattern from Patterns for Pirates for Maci’s shirt. I did the solid bodice option and it was just perfect for this panel! (I made a size 7) I love that I was able to use a t-shirt panel for this top, but it’s still twirly enough for my girly-girl!
Only 79 days until my oldest baby’s first day of Kindergarten! (But who’s counting?) I seriously can’t believe how big she is getting. It’s really just not fair! She will be five years old tomorrow. FIVE!
The moral of this story is that you need to get your pre-orders in for Peek-a-boo Fabric Shop’s Round 15 by June 6th! That is Monday.. two days from now! There are tons of other really fun prints & panels, so make sure to check them all out. There is usually some retail available once all pre-orders are filled, but pre-order pricing is much better 🙂 The fabric is expected to arrive in early July, with plenty of time for back-to-school sewing!
Happy Fabric Hoarding/Sewing!!
