In case you missed it, Patterns for Pirates has a super fun Raglan Week going on right now in their Facebook group! The festivities include a sale, pattern tips and hacks, and best of all – an update and new release!
The Jolly Roger Raglan has been a long-time favorite at our house for a few reasons – because it’s so quick to sew up, it’s perfect for showcasing fun fabric without being too overboard, and it’s gender neutral! The P4P team has been working non-stop to update the Jolly Roger Raglan with an improved fit, updated tutorial, and layers!
My favorite part by far is that there is now an amazing ADD-ON PACK available for the JRR! The add-on pack is created to coordinate with the Women’s Raglan add-on pack, and includes the coolest additions to really make your JRR’s stand out!
Among my favorites are the crossover hood and kangaroo pocket! I had been meaning to make something for Madden with this amazing “Rawrsome” print from Sincerely Rylee Fabric Shop, and this was the perfect opportunity! This is probably one of my favorite items I’ve made for Madden – I really love the look of the crossover hood, and the fabrics suit him perfectly! He’s always loved dinosaurs, and orange is his favorite color 🙂 It’s the perfect hoodie for this crazy 4 year old!
I also had the pleasure of testing the 6 month size for my adorably chunky little nephew, Coby! He got a matching dino hoodie, but in a fun aqua blue! I did the regular hood for his JRR and a kangaroo pocket as well! Doesn’t he look adorable?! I could just squeeze those cheeks all day!
Here’s a quick rundown of the Jolly Roger Raglan:
- Sizes 3m – 14
- Gender neutral
- Short, 3/4, and long sleeves
- Banded Hem, Curved Hem, or Straight Hem
- Optional elbow patches & triangle patch
- Updated tutorial
- Layers feature added to pattern pieces
And here is what’s included in JRR Add-On Pack:
(you must have the Jolly Roger Raglan for the base pattern)
- Traditional Hood
- Crossover Hood
- Thumbhole cuffs
- Kangaroo Pocket
- Cowl Neck
- Inseam Pockets
- Funnel Collar
- Ruffle Hem
There is a 100% chance that I will be making more hoodies for all 3 of my crazies for this fall weather we are getting into! They will be warm, dry, AND super stylish. Of course, I will also have to make myself some fun Women’s Raglans to match!
Make sure to hop over to the Patterns for Pirates blog for all of the amazing pattern hacks they have lined up for the week, and to see how to enter the #P4PRaglanWeek contest!
