Dress # 2 of Made for Mermaids’ Dreamy Collection is here!! Isla is a beautiful, airy dress or top with optional strap flutters and endless trim and embellishment possibilities. I love how sweet this dress turned out and I think you could say Maci liked it, too. She was non-stop twirling from the moment she put it on. 🙂 I thoroughly enjoy being able to create something that makes Maci feel like a princess!
Here are the details for the Isla pattern:
Suitable for woven fabrics
Top or Dress Length with slight high low hem
Pleated lace flutter option
I love love love that pointed bodice. It adds a little visual interest and it’s such a fun detail! Although, I do have to say that my favorite part of the dress are those adorable flutter straps. And while the finished dress looks like I spent hours slaving away, it was actually a pretty quick sew! Which is always great in my book. When you have 3 children ages 4 & under (meaning all at home, pretty much ALL the time!) it can sometimes be a challenge to find the time to finish all of the projects I dream up.
For my Isla, I decided to stray from my usual and I went with a periwinkle-ish blue fabric. It is a specialty cotton from Joann’s and it has a floral pattern embroidered all over. It’s light and Springy and I thought it would make a gorgeous dress for photos! (I couldn’t find an online listing for this fabric) I chose a pre-gathered embroidered eyelet trim for the hem and the straps. I had the hardest time deciding whether or not to do a lace overlay on the bodice, and in the end, I decided not to cover up the embroidered floral fabric! I absolutely love how it turned out.
We have had the weirdest weather here lately. It was so warm and sunny for a week or two, and then turned cold again! I wish Utah weather would make up it’s mind! Yesterday morning we had completely gray skies, some snow, and a lot of wind. Then in the late afternoon the sun came out and we ran out to take these gorgeous photos! Even though the sun came out, it was still pretty chilly and every few minutes the wind would pick up. Let’s just say I had to bribe Maci a little to stay out there with me! (thank goodness for Shopkins! haha!) I love this next photo even though you can tell she was a bit chilled!
For Maci’s flower crown, I used the same method I described in my Juliette post, using these white ranunculus florals from Joann’s. This time I included the leaves from the stems and I adore the more natural feel it added!
Now that the picture overload is complete, let’s talk about the release sale!
