I’ve been sewing for my daughter since before she was born, so she is no stranger to having tons of mama-made things. Lucky for me, she isn’t hard to please! She has truly loved every single thing I have ever made her! But I don’t think she has ever been so excited about something I’ve sewn her as she was when she saw this dolly Rapunzel dress! She was seriously giddy, which makes this sewing mama’s heart want to burst!
Maci (and her brother) have recently been completely obsessed with the Disney movie Tangled. Who could blame them!? It’s one of my favorites too! When I found out Disney On Ice was going to be in town and Tangled was one of the acts, I had to get tickets! And how could we go to Disney on Ice to see Rapunzel without a Rapunzel dress!? *Made for Mermaids to the rescue! They have an amazing collection of “Everyday Princess” PDF Patterns so you can make dress-ups that are adorable, comfortable for your daughter to wear, and are easily washable (without falling apart). And even better than the store-bought dress-ups, they are made with love, making them that much more special! Maci was ecstatic when she saw her new dress that I made using Made for Mermaid’s *Rapunzel Tangled dress pattern!
When I found out that Made for Mermaids was updating their dolly patterns and needed *Dolly Rapunzel tested, I knew Maci would be over the moon to have a matching dress for her dolly! I bought this doll as a Christmas gift 2 years ago, and Maci liked her, but was never that in to playing with her. Ever since I made this dolly Rapunzel dress, Maci and her doll have been inseparable! She has given her a new name (Makenzie) and now insists that they have matching EVERYTHING. I can’t tell you how many times she has asked me to make them matching underwear! (Which she will be getting as a Christmas gift this year.. shhh!)
The updated pattern for dolly Rapunzel has a new slimmer fit than the previous version. The pattern goes together easily and has amazingly cute details that match the girl dress perfectly! The ribbon details on the bodice and sleeves are darling and add the perfect “Tangled” flair to this dress! The dress has an elastic neckline and sleeves for a cute & easy fit, and the dress has a velcro closure on the back so it’s easy for your little princess to dress dolly all by herself. There are only 2 pages of pattern pieces to print and the pattern also includes a headband tutorial that matches the headband in the girl pattern! All of Megan’s patterns have detailed instructions that will walk you right through the construction of the garment. She makes it easy to understand, even for a beginner sewist. This is such a fun sew, and the end result is adorable! Any dolly-loving girl would be head-over-heels for this dress!
In addition to Rapunzel, Made for Mermaids has also updated dolly *Cinderella, *Christmas Belle, and *Snow White. To celebrate, *all dolly patterns are 50% off with the code DOLLY50 until 12/18/15 at midnight CST. This makes the doll patterns just $2 and they are absolutely perfect for some last minute Christmas gifts!
The doll pictured here is an 18″ doll from Joann’s. I personally feel like Maci is still too young to appreciate and take care of an expensive doll, so this was the perfect compromise! The regular price for this doll is $24.99 and I got her with a 50% off coupon, so she was $12.49 plus tax! At the time of this post, she’s marked down to $9.99 on Joann’s website! Just thought I would share if you are like me and want to make adorable matching dolly & me outfits but don’t want to pay $100+ for a doll for your toddler. 🙂
