DIY Teacher Gift with the Cricut Maker

Every year I spend way too much time scouring the internet for fun, unique, useful, and meaningful Christmas gift for my kids’ teachers. They spend countless hours preparing, teaching, and watching over my kids and I love to show my appreciation for them. This year I thought it would be fun to make a personalized stocking to fill with treats for our teachers!

Read below to see how fun this project was to create! If you make it all the way to the bottom, you’ll have the chance to win your very own Cricut Maker machine!

This stocking is a “Free with Cricut Maker” project from Cricut Design space. I really love  “Ready to Make” project section in Design Space. Seeing the beautiful images of completed projects makes it really easy to get inspired to create something!

My Cricut Maker cut out all of the fabric for me, so all I had to do was sew it up and add some iron-on to personalize it! It was a fun and fairly quick project and turned out really cute. I love this quote about teachers – “It takes a big heart to help shape little minds”. HERE is a link to the design space file if you’d like to add the wording to your stocking!

I thought it would be fun to add a gift tag that doubles as a Christmas ornament. I’m one of those people with a crazy tree full of mismatched, but meaningful ornaments. It’s a small sentimental touch that the teacher can decide to keep or toss without feeling bad, since it’s made out of cardstock.

I used THIS project from Design Space and I just chose 1 ornament to cut. I love the little cut outs. I had my daughter sign the back and I’ll add the year to it as well.

I put together a quick video showing the process of creating the stocking, from cutting the fabric on the Cricut Maker to sewing it all up! The heel and toe are both curved pieces that can be a little tricky, so I’ve shown how I get the pieces together (with lots of pins!!) in case you need a little extra help on that step! For a full list of supplies needed, see below.

Supplies Needed:

  • For this stocking, I used 1 pack of Cricut’s new designer fabric. You can find the fabric HERE, and 1 pack was exactly enough. As you saw in the video, I used different fabrics for the front and back of the stocking, so if you want your fabric to be the same on the front and the back, I’d suggest getting 2 packs!
  • Cricut Iron-on Lite to personalize the stocking
  • Coordinating thread
  • 2 pieces of coordinating cardstock for the ornament
  • Glue & string for assembling the ornament

Equipment needed:

The full instructions for assembling the stocking can be found on the project page in Design Space.

Once your stocking is finished, fill it with treats, lotion, soaps, gift cards, or whatever else you want and it’s ready for gift-giving!
